Painting Process
Our process is simple and effective! All parts painted at Interspray go through a hot Iron Phosphate Bath, then a Cool Water Rinse, and are then subject to an appropriate conversion coating if necessary. Why does this matter? Because no two metals are the same!
After Washing, dry-off ovens are used to evaporate water that has not naturally run off. These ovens also function as a pre-treatment to heat up the parts before painting.
The next stage is Coating. Depending on the material and spec, this could be anything from a single to three stage process, in either liquid, powder, or both. What is most important is that the job is done right!
Parts now go into our ovens for curing at their specified times and temperature. This is followed by our Quality Control review and Packaging. For large volume, specialized projects, we custom tailor our review process to meet your project's needs. After all parts are packed, they are checked into shipping and are ready to go.
Aside from painting, we also offer the following services:
- Chemical Paint Stripping
- Dry Ice Blasting (Suitable for liquid Paint)
- Shipping / Logistics
- Polytetrafluoroethylene / Fluoropolymer Coating (Teflon®)
- Custom Colour Matching
- Sand Blasting / Soda Blasting
- Aerosol / Brush-in-bottle / Pen Touch-up paints
- Assembly

Workflow
Arrival
When material arrives, it immediately gets unloaded into our receiving area. This is where we match Packing Slips with the newly arrived parts and Purchase Orders to make sure we have received orders correctly, and with all the necessary information, ie: Quantities, Colours, Parts, etc. We consider verifying our Customer orders as one of the most important steps in our workflow process.
To ensure the smoothest process possible, please have each and all skids labelled with the following:
- Company name of who the PO is issued by
- Total quantity of parts on that skid (If multiple parts, please have them separated and quantities marked)
- Colour the items on that skid are to be painted (Please do not mix colours on skid unless boxed separately and clearly indicated)
- Project Number, Docket Number, Purchase Order Number, or Reference Number used for the order
Orders that are not accurate or cannot be verified will go into a queue to be reviewed. This can severely affect the workflow process and delivery date.
Once everything is in order and verified, paperwork is submitted as Complete and the order can be entered. The following full business day will be designated as Day 1.
Day 1 - Scheduling
Now the fun begins! Your confirmed order is now brought to scheduling where we assign it to a line and a processing order. They key factors here are it's Colour, the Quantity, and it's Due Date. We understand that most orders, if not all, are Time Sensitive - this is why we ask for a 4-5 day window for completion.
Day 2-4 - Processing
Masking, Blasting, Pre-Treating, Washing, Priming, Coating, Curing, and Packing - It all happens here!
Your order is now on its way to being coated and all steps will be taken on the way to getting it done right. Please keep in mind, if there are steps that require 'outsourcing', this timeline might have to be adjusted. During our initial review and quote of the project, we make every effort to note any steps that cannot be completed in-house.
Completion Day
Your order is packed and the paperwork is printed - We're all done and ready to go!
Here is where you receive a call or e-mail to notify you that transportation needs to be arranged. If needed, we have special pricing and can arrange shipping using our logistics partner at a Flat Trip Rate. Let us know and we can make it happen.
